United Nations, New York (13 th July 2026) — on 8th,
July, 2026, the longstanding partnership between Saint
Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan was reaffirmed during a
courtesy meeting between Her Excellency Ambassador
Mutryce Williams, Permanent Representative of Saint
Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, and His
Excellency Ambassador Tom Lee of the Taipei
Economic and Cultural Office in New York. The
meeting underscored the shared commitment of both
sides to strengthening bilateral cooperation and
advancing common interests on the international stage.
The discussions provided an opportunity to exchange
views on matters of mutual interest and reaffirm the
importance of continued dialogue and collaboration.
Ambassador Williams expressed appreciation for
Taiwan’s enduring friendship and its steadfast support
for Saint Kitts and Nevis’ development priorities,
particularly in the areas of sustainable development,
healthcare, education, technology, and resilience-
building.
She also reaffirmed the Federation’s support for
Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international
organizations and platforms where its expertise and
contributions can help advance shared global objectives.
Ambassador Lee expressed gratitude for the Federation’s
consistent friendship and advocacy and reaffirmed
Taiwan’s commitment to deepening cooperation with
Saint Kitts and Nevis at both the bilateral and
multilateral levels. Both Ambassadors emphasized the
importance of continued collaboration on sustainable
development, climate resilience, and issues of particular
importance to Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
The meeting also recognized the valuable contributions
of His Excellency Edward Tao, Taiwan’s Resident
Ambassador to Saint Kitts and Nevis, and His
Excellency Donya Francis, Saint Kitts and Nevis’
Ambassador to Taiwan.
Ambassador Williams and
Ambassador Lee commended both Ambassadors for
their exemplary service, professionalism, and dedication
to strengthening the enduring partnership between the
two countries through enhanced diplomatic engagement,
development cooperation, and people-to-people
exchanges.
Saint Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan continue to enjoy a
close and enduring partnership founded on mutual
respect, trust, shared democratic values, and a common
commitment to sustainable development. Both sides
reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening
this important relationship through continued dialogue,
practical cooperation, and collaboration in support of
regional and global priorities.
