New York, (Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations) (October 13, 2026) – The Ambassador of St. Kitts and Nevis to the United Nations, H.E. Dr. Mutryce Williams, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Frank Grütter, Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations, in a gesture underscoring the importance of cultivating strong bilateral relationships alongside active engagement in multilateral diplomacy.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both diplomats to become better acquainted with their respective countries’ priorities, deepen mutual understanding, and exchange views on matters of shared interest. The engagement reflects St. Kitts and Nevis’ commitment to building meaningful partnerships with Member States and fostering constructive dialogue in pursuit of common objectives.
While multilateral diplomacy remains central to advancing international cooperation, strong bilateral relationships are equally vital to building trust, creating opportunities for collaboration and translating shared commitments into meaningful action. Personal engagement among diplomatic representatives helps strengthen communication, broaden perspectives and establish the foundations for cooperation across a range of political, economic, developmental and global issues.
For St. Kitts and Nevis, engaging colleagues from Switzerland and other Member States is an important part of advancing its foreign policy interests, strengthening international partnerships and ensuring that the perspectives and priorities of small island developing states remain visible in global discussions.
The courtesy call also highlights the enduring value of diplomacy grounded in mutual respect, openness and a willingness to understand the national circumstances, priorities and aspirations of others. Such relationships are essential in an interconnected world where challenges transcend borders and effective solutions depend on sustained dialogue and international solidarity.
