Readers of Scuba Diving magazine name the destination One of the Best in 11 categories, including Best Overall, Wreck Diving, Health of Marine Environment and more.
Basseterre, St. Kitts (02 October 2026) — St. Kitts has been named One of the Best in 11 categories of the 2027 Scuba Diving Readers’ Choice Awards, including Best Overall. The awards are decided by the votes of Scuba Diving magazine’s readers, who rate the destinations they have dived themselves.
The honours, awarded under the St. Kitts listing, span the full range of the underwater experience. They recognise the island’s dive sites, its marine life, the condition of its reefs and its appeal to divers at every level, from first-timers and snorkellers to advanced divers and underwater photographers.
“Divers are a discerning audience, and these 11 honours come directly from them,” said Kelly Fontenelle, Chief Executive Officer of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority. “To be recognised for everything from our wrecks and walls to the health of our marine environment tells us that what lies beneath our waters is as compelling as what visitors find on shore.”
“This recognition belongs equally to our dive operators and to everyone who works to protect our reefs,” Fontenelle added. “Whether you are taking your first breath underwater, descending a wall with a camera in hand or simply snorkelling off the beach, St. Kitts has a place for you. We invite divers everywhere to come and see why their peers voted for us.”
The 11 Readers’ Choice Honours
In the 2027 Scuba Diving Readers’ Choice Awards, St. Kitts was named One of the Best in each of the following categories:
1. Best Overall
2. Wreck Diving
3. Wall Diving
4. Big Animals
5. Macro Life
6. Health of Marine Environment
7. Underwater Photography
8. Best Value
9. Beginners
10. Advanced
11. Snorkeling
Taken together, the results describe a destination that suits every kind of diver. Recognition for both Beginners and Advanced diving, alongside Snorkeling, reflects waters that welcome newcomers while still rewarding experienced divers. Honours for Wreck Diving, Wall Diving, Big Animals and Macro Life point to the variety found within a short boat ride of shore.
The Health of Marine Environment honour is especially meaningful for St. Kitts, where the care of reefs and marine life is central to the island’s approach to tourism. The Best Value recognition confirms that this quality remains within reach for travelling divers.
