Georgetown, Guyana, April 8, 2026 (PMO) – Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew continued his visit to Guyana on Wednesday with a full day of strategic engagements focused on practical knowledge-sharing and identifying innovative solutions to support national development in Saint Kitts and Nevis. The Prime Minister’s packed schedule included visits to key institutions and project sites spanning public service digitization, smart traffic enforcement, law enforcement command systems, agricultural research, and modern healthcare delivery.
The visit formed part of the Government’s broader effort to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Guyana while learning from systems and models that can be adapted to improve governance, service delivery, and quality of life for citizens back home. Throughout the day, Prime Minister Drew engaged directly with technical experts, ministers, and agency officials to better understand how Guyana is leveraging technology, infrastructure, and innovation to improve efficiency, transparency, and public outcomes.
One of the Prime Minister’s first major engagements was a detailed presentation on Guyana’s public service digitization program led by Hon. Zulfikar Ally, Minister of Public Service, Government Efficiency, and Implementation. The presentation showcased a range of integrated digital systems designed to improve project oversight, service delivery, and government accountability, including live dashboards for public infrastructure projects, hospital operations, visa processing, and citizen complaints. The systems allow policymakers to monitor national projects and services in real time from anywhere in the world.

Prime Minister Drew welcomed the practical approach to governance and emphasized the value of leveraging digital tools to strengthen accountability and improve citizen experiences. Prime Minister Drew expressed the need for systems, such as this, that allow governments to respond more efficiently and ensure that public servants remain accountable to the people they serve.
A major highlight of the day was Prime Minister Drew’s visit to the E-Net, where he viewed first hand Guyana’s automated speeding enforcement system operated in conjunction with Guyana’s National Data Management Authority. The cutting-edge system uses high-definition cameras, real-time dashboards, and integrated court and police systems to detect speeding and other traffic violations, issue tickets automatically, and support safer road use. Company officials expressed that the system has already contributed to a significant reduction in speeding and road fatalities, while improving enforcement and compliance.

Prime Minister Drew, who has consistently championed public safety in Saint Kitts and Nevis, praised the innovation and stressed that road safety must remain centered on saving lives. “The main objective is not the revenue, it is to save lives,” the Prime Minister said.
The Prime Minister also visited the Guyana Police Force Command Centre, where he was briefed on advanced surveillance, monitoring, and operational systems supporting national security and law enforcement. The visit provided valuable insights into how modern command and control systems can strengthen crime prevention, improve emergency response, and enhance public confidence in national security institutions.

In the area of agriculture, Prime Minister Drew toured the National Agricultural Research Extension Institute, including its Mangrove Centre, soil chemical services unit, and biotechnology tissue culture laboratory. The visit provided an opportunity to examine Guyana’s research-driven approach to strengthening food production, improving crop resilience, and supporting farmers through science and innovation. The Prime Minister has made food security a key pillar of St Kitts and Nevis’ Sustainable Island State Agenda, and the lessons from Guyana’s agricultural systems are expected to support ongoing efforts to modernize the Federation’s own agricultural sector.

The Prime Minister also visited the recently built Diamond Regional Hospital, where he observed Guyana’s continued investments in modern healthcare infrastructure and patient-centered service delivery. The tour highlighted the importance of resilient health systems, integrated technologies, and accessible care, priorities that remain central to St Kitts and Nevis’ ongoing efforts to improve healthcare services and outcomes for all citizens.
Prime Minister Drew said the visit reaffirmed the value of regional partnerships grounded in practical collaboration and shared progress. He noted that the day’s engagements were not about observing systems, but about identifying tested solutions that can help accelerate development and improve the daily lives of people in Saint Kitts and Nevis.
The Prime Minister’s visit to Guyana underscores his administration’s continued commitment to seeking out best practices, building meaningful partnerships, and pursuing forward-looking solutions that deliver real benefits for the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
