Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 16, 2026 (PMO) – Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, has announced plans for the ASPIRE Program to invest several million dollars in an upcoming government bond, creating a major new investment opportunity for participating children across St. Kitts and Nevis.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, July 15, during an ASPIRE Savings Account Deposit Exercise at the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank, where students received practical experience in completing deposits and managing their personal savings accounts.
“I just had a meeting with the Financial Secretary, and we are going to launch a bond. And when we launch that bond, the Aspire program is going to invest in that bond a couple million dollars, and the interest from that will be for you. That will be your first major investment,” Prime Minister Drew told the students and parents in attendance.
The planned investment represents a significant expansion of the opportunities being created through the ASPIRE Program. In addition to maintaining personal savings accounts, participating children are being introduced to investment ownership and the potential to benefit from interest, dividends and long-term asset growth.
Prime Minister Drew explained that the program was designed to ensure that young people understand that financial security is not achieved through salary and savings alone. Investment, he said, must also form part of the financial planning process from an early age.
“They are becoming young investors. Remember that. So it’s not just about working and making a salary and saving; it is about investment as well, and so we believe that investment should begin from a very, very young age,” the Prime Minister said.
The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis remains committed to expanding ASPIRE and ensuring that the nation’s children are equipped not only with financial knowledge, but also with real assets capable of supporting their education, entrepreneurship, homeownership and long-term economic security.
