Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, December 7, 2022 (Press Secretary’s Office): The St. Kitts and Nevis Cabinet approved the Protocol to amend Article 83 of the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas (RTC) which gives the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member States more freedom to conduct their domestic affairs while adhering to their commitments under the law. Additionally, it gives the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) more power to permit Member States to suspend the Common External Tariff (CET) on imports and apply a higher, lower, or even zero tariff rate. Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis, December 7, 2022 (Press Secretary’s Office): In accordance with the Public Holidays Act CAP.23.23, Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th December, 2022 are officially public holidays. The Act states “if Christmas Day falls on a Saturday, then the next following Monday shall be a public holiday, and if Christmas Day falls on a Sunday, then the next following Monday and Tuesday shall be public holidays.”Christmas Day is Sunday 25th December, 2022, therefore according to the Act the public holidays will be observed on Monday 26th December and Tuesday 27th December 2022. This was revealed by Head of the Media and Communication Unit in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources and Cooperatives, Chaira Flanders during a visit to the Public Market on Monday 5th December 2022.
