Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 11, 2026 – The St. Kitts and Nevis Medicinal Cannabis Authority (SKNMCA) has officially launched its Responsible Use Campaign, a national public education initiative designed to promote safe, informed, and lawful engagement with cannabis throughout the Federation.
The campaign was officially introduced on Wednesday, June 10, during an appearance by SKNMCA Chief Executive Officer Nadiv Mills on the Morning Show with G-Cue ZIZ Radio.
Speaking on the program, Mr. Mills emphasized that cannabis in St. Kitts and Nevis falls under two legal categories: medicinal cannabis and religious cannabis. He noted that these remain the only lawful avenues through which individuals may access cannabis, while recreational use remains prohibited under current legislation.

“As an Authority, we have a responsibility to educate citizens on the safe and legal ways to engage with cannabis,” Mr. Mills said. “At the same time, anyone who interacts with cannabis has a responsibility to themselves and to the public to do so safely and lawfully. This campaign seeks to bring those two concepts together through education, interaction, and guidance.”
The Responsible Use Campaign is built around four key pillars: Knowing Your Rights, Cannabinoid Science, Medical Oversight and Protection of Vulnerable Populations and Moderation and Hygiene.
Through these pillars, the campaign aims to increase public awareness, encourage responsible behaviour, protect young people, and improve understanding of the legal framework governing cannabis in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Over the next several weeks, the campaign will explore a series of focused themes, beginning with an overview of citizens’ rights and responsibilities under the law. Subsequent weeks will address cannabinoid science, practical health and hygiene considerations, community responsibility, and youth protection.

Mr. Mills also underscored the importance of understanding the medicinal cannabis industry established under the Cannabis Act 2020, noting that the medicinal cannabis framework remains the only legal avenue for the commercial cultivation, sale, and purchase of cannabis in St. Kitts and Nevis.
“The Responsible Use Campaign is about clearing up misconceptions and guiding our people on a safe and legal path,” he said. “This is about public health, community respect, and protecting our future.”
Members of the public are encouraged to follow the campaign throughout the coming weeks via the Authority’s digital platforms and educational resources.
